A very interesting piece of Horse Racing Memorabilia. A silver and crocodile notebook complete with pencil. The inside covers are lined in a wonderful blue silk. Engraved to the front is the name “Isonomy 1880”. This was a British thoroughbred who ran 14 races and won 10 1877-1880, so this was probably to commemorate his retirement. The owner of the horse was Frederick Gretton born into the Bass brewing family. On his death The Times recorded him as one of the most prominent owners of racehorses on the turf. (1891). The silver is marked for London 1879 and was made by Henry William Dee, on the other side are the retailers details of J&G Beasley 34 St Jame’s Street. The blue silk is in very good order for its age, and the silver and crocodile are in good condition.
