Silver Box - Retailed Briggs Piccadilly
A very fine box retailed by the famous firm Briggs located at 27 Piccadilly. They were known for selling a range of quality items.
This could be a huntsmans box in which they would have carried a sandwich to sustain themselves whilst hunting.
Marked London 1858 maker Thomas Johnson.
Beautifully decorated even the hinge has been decorated. The inside is gilded and is also marked and carries the Briggs mark. Owners initials to front
Condition: the box is showing signs of use commensurate with age. The base shows wear from being sat on a surface. One of the corners has been damaged (see pics) there is a tiny hole, but it could easily be put right, looks as though it has been dropped. The other corners are showing signs of use but such a quality box.
